Shikhar Dhawan was born on December 5, 1985 in Delhi, India, and plays cricket. He is an opening batsman and a left-hander. Dhawan bowls off-spin occasionally. He plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and for the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Shikhar Dhawan played for the India U-19 and U-17 Teams earlier to making his First-Class debut in November 2004 for Delhi. At the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, he led India in runs scored. He became the first Indian to score 3000 ODI runs in record time in 2016. In December 2017, he became the second-fastest Indian batsman to accumulate 4,000 runs in ODIs.
Shikhar Dhawan holds the record for the most runs scored in a year in Twenty20 Internationals. He is one of India’s most reliable players in ICC competitions and seems to enjoy scoring there.
In Visakhapatnam, India, in October 2010, Shikhar Dhawan played his first ODI match against Australia. He faced the same opponent in his Test Cricket debut in Mohali in March 2013. He played a debut innings of 187 runs off 174 balls, the fastest Test century by Batter.
